DARKESTRAH / AL-NAMROOD – Akyr Zaman / Tajer Al Punqia EP

Shaytan Productions presents a very interesting split EP, entitled “Akyr Zaman / Tajer Al Punqia” by two unique Asian bands. Darkestrah originating from Kyrgyzstan (now they reside in Germany) and Al-Namrood from Saudi Arabia. Both bands combine their native traditional music with black metal, each one with a very different and distinctive way. Darkestrah’s music has a more epic pagan atmospheric approach, while Al-Namrood have a more oriental folk sound. The EP lasts for only 22 minutes, including Read more…

THE HORN – Volume Ten

THE HORN - Volume 10

The Horn is a rather unknown band, even if it was formed back in 1997 and has already 12 full-length albums plus many split releases. It is the personal project of “A Demon Sheen” from Australia, who composes and performs all music. His obvious passion for ancient Egyptian occult philosophy, mythology and history is the driving force behind his music. His ambition is to turn the whole “Ancient Egyptian Book of The Dead” book into music! And to Read more…

Since their beginning they signed to the Canadian label Shaytan Productions, who has released both their previous albums, as well as their debut EP “Atba’a Al-Namrood” in 2008. The band plays oriental folk black metal, Read more…

AL-NAMROOD – Estorat Taghoot

The second full-length album from this Arabian oriental black metal band is out, just one year after their debut “Astfhl AlTha’r”. The band was formed only in 2008, but they are very active with four releases so far (including a mini cd and a split). There are some line-up changes in Al-Namrood, since they got a permanent drummer, but their vocalist left. So they are a trio again and they used Mardus as a guest vocalist.

AL-NAMROOD – Astfhl AlTha’r

ALNAMROOD - Astfhl AlTha'r

Listening for many years now to folk black metal, I am always looking for bands from “unusual” places that would mix their own culture’s music with black metal. Saudi Arabia though, would be one of the least expected places to listen to this genre, since there are very few metal bands at all there. Al-Namrood play Arabian folk black metal and they are around from 2008. The same year they released their 4 song EP “Atba’a AlNamrood” and a 3-way Read more…
