NHOR – Whisperers to This Archaic Growth

NHOR – Whisperers to This Archaic Growth

Nhor is a multitalented artist coming from the UK. Except for his same named band, he has also written a couple of books, filmed a short-video and is involved in photography and artwork. Everything so far is self released in hand made packages with very beautiful artwork (both cds and tapes). I don’t know when Nhor begun, but his first work with this name (both music or book) was released in 2009. It was an ambient / acoustic untitled album Read more…

NORTHERN OAK – Monuments

NORTHERN OAK – Monuments

Northern Oak is an English metal group from Sheffield. They were formed in the beginning of 2006 and after releasing some demos and a self financed full-length album “Tales from Rivelin” in 2008, they return in the end of 2010 with their second work “Monuments”. This new album is also self-released, but it looks much more professional than its predecessors.

The band describes its music as progressive folk metal, but I don’t believe that’s enough to Read more…

JALDABOATH – The Rise of the Heraldic Beasts

JALDABOATH – The Rise of the Heraldic Beasts

If you think that the name is the only unusual thing about this band, you couldn’t be more wrong. Behind the knick Jaldaboath is James Fogarty. If this name reminds you anything, he was one of the founding members of The Meads of Asphodel, as well as the man behind Ewigkeit. After leaving from The Meads of Asphodel and ending Ewigkeit, he found two other comrades and in 2007 they formed a band with his name “Jaldaboath”. In the same Read more…

ASKIVAL – Eternity

ASKIVAL – Eternity

Askival was founded in 2006 by its only member Tuagh and after the demo “Alba” he released the debut and only full-length album “Eternity”. Tuagh comes from the island Rùm of Scotland and the band took its name from the highest mountain of the island. After the release of this album, Tuagh abandoned Askival, so it seems that’s all we will ever get from this band.

The music of Askival is epic pagan metal with some Read more…

WODENSTHRONE – Loss

WODENSTHRONE – Loss

England isn’t really known for its pagan black metal bands. Maybe it’s time to change this! A brilliant new band arises from there, offering us a mesmerizing debut album “Loss”. They were formed in 2005 and after two split releases in 2006 and 2008 they recorded their first full length album in Negura studios in Romania with the help of Negura Bunget members.

Wodensthrone play pagan black metal with an underground (but very good) sound. They begun as Read more…

ALESTORM – Black Sails at Midnight

Second attack from the Scottish pirate metallers Alestorm. After their successful debut “Captain Morgan’s Revenge” in 2008, they released the EP “Leviathan” and the split “Black Sails over Europe” with Týr and Heidevolk. At the first days of June their new full-length album “Black Sails at Midnight” will be available from Napalm Records again.

FEN – The Malediction Fields

FEN – The Malediction Fields

Finally the debut album of Fen is out! The band comes from The Fens (a region in eastern England, where they took their name from) and they were formed in 2006. After their very promising EP “Ancient Sorrow” that was released by Northern Silence in 2007, they moved to Code666 for their new work. I was really looking forward to listen to this release and thankfully the time has come.

Already from their first work the band showed its will Read more…

OAKENSHIELD – Gylfaginning

OAKENSHIELD – Gylfaginning

Another promising debut from a new band, coming from UK. They were formed in 2004 under the name Nifelhel by their one and only member Ben Corkhill and released their first demo “Call of the Gods” in 2005 and the second “Upon the Blood of Ymir” in 2006. Later on, Ben changed the band’s name into Oakenshield and in 2007 the demo “Gylfaginning” was out with 4 songs from the upcoming same titled album, that Einheit Produktionen just released.
