I’ll start this review by saying that this is probably one of the best debut albums I’ve heard the last years. Seduce The Heaven come from Greece and were formed back in 2009 by guitarist Alex Fouros (former Fragile Vastness) and “Field of Dreams” is their debut album. I was very anxious to hear this album, because their first video “Illusive Light” that was released early in 2012 left me with great expectations about the things to come from them in the future.
Their music style is very unique in my opinion, because they manage to combine many different styles of metal without doing mistakes and falling into the traps that so many other bands have done. In their album you will hear a mix of NWOSDM, symphonic metal, gothic and progressive metal (Alex Fouros former band played progressive metal). Each song has something different to offer to the listener, meaning there are no fillers here. The compositions are very complex and catchy at the same time and I couldn’t expect anything less from the level of musicians this band has. They have the ability to pass from brutal death core parts to gothic symphonic staff and to put some prog jazz elements in there, because they can and despite this all the songs flow without the listener being tired and bored. Responsible for the vocals are Marios Mizo who does the death growling staff and Elina Laivera who does the female/operatic part and she left me completely amazed. In my opinion she is a hidden diamond of the metal scene and is a voice that the big bands out there would die to have.
The production done at Soundflakes studios is very clear and heavy and lets every instrument to be heard. “Field of Dreams” consists of 10 songs and it is very difficult for me to pick the ones that stand above the others, because in my opinion all of them are unique, but after 7-8 times that I have listened to the album I would say that “Leave me Alone“, “Baseless Addiction“, “Ignorance” and the magical ballad “In Close Distance” are the most characteristic for me.
Seduce The Heaven is one of the next big things and “Field of Dreams” is one of the best albums I have heard. What a great way to start the new year and definitely one of the best albums of 2013 for me. Do yourself a favor and listen to this great piece of music.
