HELRUNAR and ÁRSTÍÐIR LÍFSINS announce split release

Fragments – A Mythological Excavation” is a joint effort by Helrunar and Árstíðir Lífsins with one respective song of epic length by each band, recorded exclusively for their collaboration. As the title of this release (overall duration: 35 minutes) already suggests, both groups delve into mythological topics: Helrunar’s “Οίνος προ του Πολυφήμου – Wein für Polyphem” draws from Homer’s “Odyssey” while Árstíðir Lífsins’ “Vindsvalarmál” taps into the sources of Old Norse mythology. What in the end unifies both songs musically as well as lyrically are their monumental character and apocalyptic undertone which is manifest to the elemental force of those mythological ideas – a power reanimated by “Fragments“. The album will be co-released by Prophecy Productions and Ván Records in a 2CD digipak edition limited to 1.000 copies and in gatefold LP with heavy black vinyl (180g), signed poster and a PVC protection sleeve, limited to 500 copies. You can already pre-order the album at both labels’ stores, but its official release date is the 5th of July 2013.
