NHOR – Whisperers to This Archaic Growth

NHOR – Whisperers to This Archaic Growth

Nhor is a multitalented artist coming from the UK. Except for his same named band, he has also written a couple of books, filmed a short-video and is involved in photography and artwork. Everything so far is self released in hand made packages with very beautiful artwork (both cds and tapes). I don’t know when Nhor begun, but his first work with this name (both music or book) was released in 2009. It was an ambient / acoustic untitled album Read more…

LORD AGHEROS – Of Beauty and Sadness

LORD AGHEROS – Of Beauty and Sadness

Lord Agheros is the personal project of Gerasimos Evangelou from Sicily (of Greek Origin). “Of Beauty and Sadness” is his third album after 2007’s “Hymn” and next year’s “As-a-Sin” and it takes his music a step forward. Already from the second album, Lord Agheros revealed a more orchestral approach in their music, something even more emphasized in this new work. The terms extreme gothic metal or symphonic black metal that could describe their previous Read more…

GRIM SKÖLL – The Woods Shall Cry Forever

GRIM SKÖLL – The Woods Shall Cry Forever

Grim Sköll is the personal project of Baal Taran, who formed the band in 2007. He is also member of many other Mexican bands, like Benatnash, Eidyllion, Dazhbog and Zonei, while he was an ex-member of Ereshkigal. In other words he is deeply involved in the underground Mexican scene. With Grim Sköll he explores his pagan side and this is his second album, after 2008’s debut “The Eleven Rivers of Hverlmir”.

The band’s music is pagan black metal Read more…

VINTERRIKET – Horizontmelancholie

VINTERRIKET – Horizontmelancholie

“Horizontmelancholie” is the last full-length from Vinterriket. If you have heard about them, you would probably already know that there are countless releases from this German one man band. Many collections, re-releases from different labels etc, make it difficult for someone to count, but I think this is the eighth full-length album (if “Zeit-Los:Laut-Los” counts as a full length).

Christophe Ziegler is the man behind this band and he has also two other projects, Nebelkorona and Atomtrakt, but Vinterriket is Read more…

ANCESTRAL RHYMES – The Cosmic Law (Demo)

ANCESTRAL RHYMES – The Cosmic Law

Ancestral Rhymes is a new ambitious band from Trikala, Greece. The two members of the band (Dimitris: all instruments and vocals, Sofia: keyboards) begun in 2007 and this demo EP is their first work.

It isn’t easy to describe their music, since they have a very personal and unique sound. In their site they are labeled as “black metal and ambient”, but that’s not very accurate in my opinion. Keyboards have a very important role in their music. All the Read more…

SIEGHETNAR – Bewußtseinserweiterung

SIEGHETNAR – Bewußtseinserweiterung

Sieghetnar is a very mysterious band from Germany with very little “official” info about them. They were founded in 2005 by an unknown number of members (I have the feeling though that it’s just one man’s project) and they have released many albums since 2006. In 2008 they had 5 (!!!) releases and “Bewußtseinserweiterung” is one of them.

Theoretically their music belongs to the black metal genre, but all of the songs are only instrumental with many drone, ambient and Read more…

LORD AGHEROS – As-a-Sin

LORD AGHEROS – As-a-Sin

Lord Agheros is quite an unknown band from Sicily, Italy. It’s another one man’s band and the musician behind it, Evangelou Gerassimos, comes from Greece. The band exists from 1999, but it was just 2007 that they self-released their debut album “Hymn”. One year later (autumn 200Smilie: 8) My Kingdom Music released their second album “As-a-Sin”.

Lord Agheros music can be described as extreme Gothic metal, or symphonic melodic black metal with many ambient influences. The vocals, Read more…

PAYSAGE D’HIVER – Kristall & Isa

PAYSAGE D’HIVER – Kristall & Isa

This is the fifth album of Paysage d’Hiver the solo project of Wintherr, who is also a member of DarkSpace. He is from Switzerland, and he actually released all of his albums (8 so far, plus a demo and 2 split releases) on tape. Later he decided to re-release all of them one by one on A5 digipak versions by his own label Kunsthall Produktionen. So this is his last release, even though the tape version is from 2001!
